Bassin Blanc Crater Lake
Staying in
A crater lake set above 600 m over Chamouny, often drowned in mist, its milky-white water giving it its name. The site sits completely off the tourist circuits and feeds a fine collection of local legends.
Tip: At the entrance to Chamouny village, on the Vallé Adventure Park side; a short walk from the parking, though signposting is very discreet. The banks are steep, slippery and completely undeveloped: swimming is not advised. Mist often rolls in during the afternoon — come in the morning.
